The Academy

As a full-time learner you will become a member of The Academy at SLC. The Academy gives you an enhanced experience of college life and places you at the heart of everything we do. As a member of The Academy we want you to feel part of our college community, and our focus is to support you in all aspects of life for you to succeed in your future.

In The Academy you will receive excellent teaching and learning on your course, this is supported by our proven track record by receiving ‘Outstanding’ from an Ofsted inspection. You will be responsible for managing yourself and your own time, both at college and in your personal life. You will also have the opportunity to acquire new skills that are sort after by employers such as, team work, time management and communication skills. These skills will enhance your personal development, making you more employable.

So at The Academy it’s not just about starting a college course, it’s about developing you as a person and ensuring that you stand out as the ideal candidate for your dream job.

The SLC Academy of Sport enables you to pursue your sporting aspirations, whilst obtaining suitable academic qualifications from our wide range of courses.

4. Support from Tutors, Students Liaison Team and Learning Tutors

The Academy wants you to progress further with the right skills, the right attitude and the right approach to further learning and/or employment.

If you join The Academy at SLC you are entitled to take part in the Academy of Sport (subject to trails) and exciting enrichment activities – for more information see pages 12 – 13.
