SLC Life - 30th January 2012

CASE STUDY: Amy Barden

Name: Amy Barden

Age: 23

Apprenticeship Area: Business & Administration Level 2

Employer: Precision Recruitment, 2-6 York Street, Leicester LE1 6NU

Amy had been unemployed for 2 years and was unable to find part-time work. This situation was very challenging for a young Mum with a little 4 year old boy.

Amy initially thought that Apprenticeships were just for 16-18 year olds, but after registering on the NAS website, she learnt that they are available to all age groups. She found the Business & Administration Apprenticeship attached to SLC which will give her an NVQ Level 2 qualification upon completion.

“I feel very much part of the team here at Precision. I enjoy the mix of hands on practical work and the learning side of the course, which is all relevant to the job. Apprenticeships are a good way to get practical experience and build self- confidence. It has been life-changing for me as I was giving up hope of ever being employed. I would tell other people thinking about Apprenticeships to go for it!”

QUOTE:

Green Thumb Lawn Service UK, who recently recruited a new apprentice through the SLC service:

‘We were very impressed with the recruitment process, from our first meeting to the efficiency with which the interviews were scheduled. We were then very pleased with the high calibre of all three applicants that we interviewed. Overall the whole process exceeded our expectations.’
