South Leicestershire College’s second Open Event is taking place on Wednesday 23 November.
Year 11 students along with their parents and carers are invited to find out about a great range of full-time courses and Apprenticeship programmes available to start next September.
Tracey Forman, Group Director for Student Experience and Support at the College said: “This event is ideal for year 11 students who are thinking about their next steps after school.
“Here at the College we have a strong focus on really preparing young people for the world of work. We work closely with employers to ensure our course offer meets the needs of the economy both now and in the future. Our study programmes ensure learners have both the academic knowledge and softer skills needed to thrive in their chosen career, whether they aim to go on to university-level study, further training or straight into employment after their course.
“Our vocational programmes cover a huge range of sectors from Engineering, Health and Social Care, to Travel and Tourism and Digital Media to name a few.
“We also have an impressive Apprenticeship offer. Apprenticeships are ideal for those who want to get stuck in straight away, working as a paid employee whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification, again our offer covers a wide range of sectors including Business and Administration, Engineering, Health and Life Sciences, Transport, Logistics and Construction and Hair and Beauty. Our Apprenticeships Team will be there on the night with information about how to become an Apprentice and our recruitment service.”
“As part of the event, visitors will have the opportunity take a look at our fantastic facilities including the gym, Hair & Beauty Salons and the college’s very own radio station Wiggle FM. Guests will also have the chance to have a go at news reporting in our studio, plus much more.”
Tracey added: “For those who are unsure on their next steps, our Guidance Team will be available to offer impartial advice on the different career paths available as well as information on travel and financial support available.”
The event will take place on Wednesday 23 November from 5.00pm to 8.00pm. The College is located on Blaby Road, South Wigston, LE18 4PH or for those using a satnav LE18 4PN.
