Students and staff at South Leicestershire College have raised nearly £200 in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
A bake sale and raffle was held at the College’s South Wigston Campus on Friday 30 September to raise money for the charity.
Students on Level 1 Childcare and Health & Social Care courses along with their tutor Liz Gibbins also took over the staff canteen on Wednesday 28 September offering freshly baked cakes and biscuits alongside either a tea or coffee. The event was a big hit with both staff and learners with the group raising £95.25.
Callum Marvin from the Student Liaison and Enrichment team said: “The Macmillan Coffee Morning is a great way to raise money for such an important cause. Students and staff worked really hard to produce some really impressive cakes, thank you to everyone who got involved and took time to donate.”
The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event which sees people from all over the UK host their own events to raise money for those facing cancer.
