The recent rainy weather didn’t stop play for students from SLC and NWHC, who took part in an inter-college tournament at South Leicestershire College to mark the end of the academic year.
Earlier this month, South Leicestershire College and North Warwickshire & Hinckley College hosted the event which aimed to engage Foundation Learning students in sport and physical activity.
Due to the inclement weather, staff and students had to bring the competition indoors, but the competition spirit was not lost and over 40 Foundation Learning students took part in a series of friendly competitions, including in table tennis, FIFA Football and Pool.
Daniel Hay, progress coach at South Leicestershire College, said: “The tournament was a collective effort by progress coaches, learning coaches and sports makers at both colleges.
“We had planned a day of outdoor sports, but due to the weather, we decided get the group to compete in a games tournament instead. The students had a fantastic time and socialised with lots of new people.”
South Leicestershire College and North Warwickshire & Hinckley College are currently federated and are aiming to merge by August 2016.
