Students and staff from South Leicestershire College helped to raise vital funds to support the care of terminally ill adult patients, their families and carers across Leicestershire in an event last Friday.
The event, which took place at Brockington College, Enderby, aimed to promote physical activity for females, and provided opportunities to take part in a number of different activities including Zumba, Tai Chi, Insanity, CrossFit and Pilates.
South Leicestershire College were invited to be part of the event, providing a ‘pamper’ service for the females taking part in the exercise classes. Students and staff from Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy were offering a number of treatments throughout the evening, including hair styling, nail polish and a hand and arm massage. By the end of the evening, the students had raised £135 for LOROS to add to the overall total.
Kate Leslie, Sports Maker at South Leicestershire College, said:
“All of the staff and students who volunteered their time worked extremely hard throughout the evening and I’m very pleased that we were able to contribute to the overall total.
“We are also proud to support causes such as ‘This Girl Can’, which is a celebration of active women up and down the country who are doing their best to take part in exercise.”
‘This Girl Can’ is funded by Sport England using National Lottery Good Causes money. For more information about South Leicestershire College, log on to www.slcollege.ac.uk
