SLC Receives Coveted Quality Mark

The College has been given a key national quality mark for its work in helping healthcare staff embrace change to provide safe, effective, high quality patient care.
South Leicestershire College (SLC) received the Skills for Health Quality Mark in recognition of our excellent delivery of teaching and learning to the health sector.
The Skills for Health Quality Mark has been designed to give health employers greater confidence when investing in workforce development. It endorses the quality of the delivery of training and learning and its suitability for the health sector and makes it easier for employers to identify and select learning/training courses and providers of training.
The Assessors commented that: “The College has long established effective partnerships and networks with health sector employers and other stakeholders which enhance their service delivery. The staff work very closely with commissioners of education to ensure that provision meets defined employer and health sector learning needs and therefore adds value to the patient/service user experience.”
The Assessment report states: “SLC aim to support staff to positively embrace personal, developmental and organisational change and also help to ensure that all their staff are fit to practice in order to provide safe, effective, high quality patient care.”
The report also states that “Feedback from health employers is extremely complementary of the college’s commitment to their learners and they were highly commended in the flexibility that they offer to employers.”
In addition “Feedback from learners graded the quality of delivery as good or excellent…Commissioners of learning graded the delivery as excellent and would recommend the training to others.”
Employers were quoted as saying: “The SLC training team deliver teaching and learning to a very high standard and are passionate about what they do. All team members strive to ensure that the learner experience is of high quality, fit for purpose and enjoyable.”
“SLC are one of the most flexible providers we work with. They consistently deliver a quality programme to all of our learners and find ways to meet the needs of our business.”
Chief Executive, Marion Plant OBE, said: “Healthcare that is supported by strong, up to date and relevant education and training is good for patient care. We take great care to ensure that health care staff we work with are able to improve their work as a result of our intervention. As the needs of patients are becoming more complex, education and training will play an increasingly important role.”
