Student Awarded Sir Thomas White Loan!
9th March 2010Congratulations to ex-Painting and Decorating student Dan Luke on securing a loan through the Sir Thomas White Charitable Trust.
The Trust offers interest-free loans to 18-35 year olds, to enable to them to start their own business in Leicestershire and Rutland.
Dan says: “I am thrilled to have been awarded a loan from the Sir Thomas White Trust, it is really going to help me to push my business forward. I will always be grateful to Paul and Archie at SLC for the support they provided while I was a student and since I have left the college.”
Dan joins a line of well known names who have been able to start up a business through the charitable organisation including local hairdresser Barrie Stephen who received a loan in 1996 as well as Curry’s electrical retailers who received £100 to open their first outlet in 1902!
Paul Thornewell and Archie Brown, Painting and Decorating Lecturers said: “We are pleased to see that Dan is finally getting the opportunity to fulfil his potential and start his own business. He was a polite and well-mannered student who is capable of becoming successful in this industry. We would like to wish him all the best. “
Paul later added that he would like all students to know that his (well prepared and painted) door is always open to any of our ex-students who want any further advice and guidance.
