A local salon owner visited South Leicestershire College recently to inspire students about her career journey and share top tips to become a successful hairdresser.
Lisa Davidson, owner of Ellce Hair and Beauty in Sapcote visited the South Wigston Campus on Monday 13 March.
During the visit, Lisa and employee Charlotte West Level 3 apprentice took part in a question and answer session with current full time learners and hairdressing Apprentices.
Lisa, who was previously an Apprentice herself now employs two full-time Apprentices in her salon. When asked why she uses Apprenticeships as a training option Lisa said:
“I think that Hairdressing Apprenticeships provide individuals’ with the opportunity to develop the required skills essential to work in industry. Learning on the job really provides good foundations.
“I’ve had a really good experience with the College, the girls get on really well at both campuses. I think the service provided is absolutely brilliant, and always nice to know that support is available at the end of the phone, I’ve been really pleased with the service I have received over the years.”
Emma Dalton, Hairdressing Lecturer at the College added: “Here at the College, our focus is working collaboratively with our employers to facilitate industries’ needs and prepare young people for the world of work. Visits like these really help build on the learners’ knowledge to drive learning and inspire individual’s to think about their next career steps once completing their programme. We’d like to thank Lisa and Charlotte for coming in and sharing their valuable experiences.
