South Leicestershire College is working with a Leicester-based healthcare provider to provide apprenticeships for young people seeking a career in healthcare.
Spirit Healthcare is offering an apprenticeship in marketing, customer services, business administration and warehousing & logistics, giving apprentices the opportunity to combine study and hands-on professional experience whilst earning.
CEO Chris Barker hopes to inspire the next generation to discover the many career pathways in the healthcare sector: “It’s a very exciting time for us and we’re keen to continue this momentum into 2017, starting with our commitment to creating new roles for talented young people. Apprenticeships are a great way for people at the start of their careers to learn real industry skills and benefit from the expertise of our experienced team. These business-wide roles will not only increase the skillset of our workforce, but provide a valuable platform for growth.
“Working with South Leicestershire College, we can recruit talented, ambitious people and train them to develop the specialist skills and knowledge needed. In return, they get the opportunity to work for an innovative company at the forefront of progressive healthcare, work as part of a friendly and supportive team, and there’s even free lunch every day!”
Spirit has already successfully recruited one marketing apprentice, Callum, who is learning how to bring products to market in the healthcare sector and plan promotional campaigns.
Callum, who went to the South Charnwood school in Leicester, added: “Marketing has always interested me as a career and I can’t wait to explore the role it plays in the healthcare sector….”
