Students from recently merged colleges North Warwickshire & Hinckley College and South Leicestershire College heard from an industry expert this week.
Hairdressing students gathered at North Warwickshire & Hinckley College’s Nuneaton Campus to hear from Rob Howse, Technical Educator from Wella.
Rob began his career working in salons and was inspired to pursue his current job role when an educator visited his workplace. After seven years of building experience and knowledge, Rob now works for Wella introducing their products into salons and training providers.
The day focused on product knowledge, with students researching the portfolio, discovering what each product does and how to use them.
Emma Dalton, Hairdressing Lecturer at the College said: “Visits like these are such an important part of the students’ learning programme here at the College. By hearing from a professional they have the opportunity to really learn and ask questions about the products they will be using as part of their course and when they are working in industry.
“I feel that it has definitely helped to develop the students’ employability skills, assisted them with future employment and enabled them to learn about the needs of industry.
“It was also a great chance for the students from both colleges to mingle and find out more about life at each campus. As merged colleges we now have the opportunity to share best practice and training days such as these.”
