Funding is still available for employers looking to take on an Apprentice.
Debbie Scotton, Business Development Manager at South Leicestershire College discusses how local employers can take advantage of this opportunity.
“This grant is available for small employers looking to either recruit a new employee as an Apprentice or upskill current staff members via this training route. The £1500 grant is paid directly to the organisation and subject to eligibility criteria: organisations need to have fewer than 50 employees and not employed an Apprentice in the last 12 months.
“For small employers, Apprenticeships are an ideal training option, providing organisations with a cost-effective way to really mould Apprentices into their way of working, filling skills gaps and developing strong relationships with their workforce.
“With the reforms coming into force from April 2017, Apprenticeships are a huge national focus. Here at South Leicestershire College, we are working in partnership with employers of all sizes to ensure they get the most out of these changes. Our aim is to ensure a smooth transition from current frameworks to the new standards, keeping employers in the loop as new standards are approved, and working with them on an individual basis to develop training programmes that really meet their needs.
“As part of our free recruitment service, we support employers with the advertisement of vacancies as well as the shortlisting and assessment process to ensure we match organisations with the perfect candidate.”
