A number of Engineering Apprenticeship vacancies are now available through South Leicestershire College.
Young people receiving their GCSE and AS Level results in a few weeks are being encouraged to take a look at the vacancies, ideal for those looking to pursue a career in the engineering industry.
The College is working closely with Saint Gobain PAM UK to provide the Advanced Level Apprenticeships, with two vacancies currently available: Maintenance Engineer and Foundry Technician. On successful completion, the qualifications are equivalent to two A-Levels.
Saint Gobain PAM UK, who have a manufacturing site near Melton Mowbray, is a supplier of iron and cast iron products to the UKs utilities, telecoms, highways, civil engineering construction and housing companies throughout the UK.
Debbie Scotton, Business Development Manager at South Leicestershire College said: “These are fantastic opportunities for young people looking to enter into the world of engineering, a booming sector which is expecting to have an extra 130,000 employees over the next five years, that’s just in The Midlands alone.”
The Maintenance Engineering Apprenticeship is a Level 3 programme; successful candidates will have the opportunity to carry out a range of maintenance activities including diagnostics, fault-finding and installation and repair of plant equipment.”
The Foundry Technician Apprenticeship is focused on materials processing and finishing, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to create drawings using 3D CAD software and use a wide range of metalworking machinery including programming and operating CNC machining centres.
