School pupils from Manor High School in Oadby recently had a taste of college life at South Leicestershire College.
More than 200 Year 8 students travelled to the college, located in South Wigston, to have taster sessions in nine vocational subjects.
As part of the day, pupils visited a number of different departments including the construction and engineering workshops, the hair and beauty salons and the media studio where they tried out their skills in front of and behind the camera. Students also found out more about career in travel & tourism, business and public services.
During the sessions, students had the chance to have a go at photography, make dice with engineering equipment, lay bricks, do manicures and even created marketing campaigns for the American sponge cakes, twinkies

Tammy Whatley, Programme Area Leader for Schools at South Leicestershire College said: “These taster days are a fantastic opportunity for school pupils to discover more about the huge range of career options available to them. The world is their oyster and we hope these visits have inspired them to think about their future career.”
