SLC Students Compete in Regional Cricket Finals

AOC T20 CricketSouth Leicestershire College students battled it out in the semi-finals of a regional cricket competition last week.

11 students who are currently studying a variety of courses in Sport, Public Services, Construction and Travel and Tourism battled their way through group stages to gain a place in the AoC T20 Cricket Regional Finals which were held at Sutton Coldfield Cricket Club on Wednesday 10 June.

SLC students played against Sandwell College and got off to a fantastic start with Winston Lamontagne taking a wicket from the very first bowl. Unfortunately, Sandwell’s batsmen were extremely strong and they took the win.

Kate Leslie, College Sport Maker at the College said:

“The team showed great encouragement and spirit despite the defeat. It was fantastic for the students to be a part of a regional event with other colleges as it is something they have never experienced before. We had never anticipated getting so far in the competition so we are really pleased for the opportunity. We hope to take part again next year.”
