Students from NWHC and SLC battled it out recently in a ‘Federation cup challenge’.
Students from NorthWarwickshire & Hinckley College and South Leicestershire College competed in a range of sporting events throughout the day, including basketball, table tennis, football, volleyball, rugby 7s and a tug of war.
South Leicestershire College came out as champions on the day (70 points to 30 points) and were presented with their award by Laurel Penrose, Deputy Principal & Chief Executive for both colleges.
The event was held at North Warwickshire & Hinckley College’s Nuneaton Campus, home to sporting facilities including football pitch, dance studio and sports hall.
Andrew Dingley, Sport Maker at North Warwickshire & Hinckley College said: “This was a great way to bring together students and staff from across the Federation. We hope this will continue as a big annual event that will grow year on year.”
Kate Leslie, Sport Maker at South Leicestershire College said:
Conor Gibson, student at South Leicestershire College said: ‘The event was great, the environment was friendly and the events were competitive. You couldn't ask for much more than that.’
Joseph Home, Sport student at North Warwickshire & Hinckley College added: “It was great to have a bit of sporting competition and meet with other students from South Leicestershire College. Thanks to the Sport Makers at both colleges, Andrew and Kate, for putting the day on.”
North Warwickshire & Hinckley College and South Leicestershire College formed a unique Federation in February 2013. The partnership aims to help both colleges to share best practice, improve quality and develop new learning opportunities for students and the wider community.
