SLC has been honoured with a Commendation from the Wigston Civic Society.
Last night, 9 June 2015, saw South Leicestershire College presented with the Wigston Civic Society Commendation Award. The Society whose work focusses on making Wigston and South Wigston ‘a better place to live, work and shop’ bestowed the honour on the college at their AGM.
The award was presented by Maureen Waugh, Chair of the Society, and Colin Towell, the Secretary, who said: “We are very pleased with the look of the college building, it enhances the area and the Learning Tree sculpture at the front of the building is a marked piece of art that the community enjoys.”
The award was collected by Toni Fazaeli, Chair of Governors at the college. She said:
The college brings success through learning for students and apprentices of all ages from 14 to adults, and those who are retired. Ofsted praised the college for our very good quality of provision and for all we do to serve local employers and the local community. I urge the local community to come and see our friendly modern building, and to be inspired to learn here.”
The college is running an open event on 17th June, 3pm – 7.30pm, for everyone in the community who is looking to start a course this September.
