SLC Hosts Specialist Training for American Decorators

American Decorators with Andy Sarson from Lincrusta Feb14In February, four professional decorators flew from the USA for specialist training at South Leicestershire College (SLC). All members of the prestigious National Guild of Professional Paperhangers, the four visitors were here to receive training from luxury wall paper brand, Lincrusta. The visit came about after they met Andy Sarson, Worldwide Technical Manager for Lincrusta, at a National Convention for Decorators in the US, when he sang the praises of the college.

Speaking of his time spent at SLC, Steve Sullivan from Ohio said that “It has meant the world to come here and learn the wallpapering techniques first hand. The set up here in the college is fabulous and I was very impressed to see how the UK develops professions for younger people, which helps to give them a sense of their own worth. It was nice to meet the students and to learn about our culture.”

As a special token of appreciation for hosting the training at our college, the American visitors awarded our students with a certificate and gave a group of decorating and carpentry students the chance to quiz them about the construction industry and life back home in the USA.
