Points based system
The immigration system in the UK regularly changing, so it is important for you to understand the system. For more details visit the UK Border Agency website. See the 'Visa and Immigration' section, 'studying in the UK', and either the 'Tier 4 General' section or the 'Student Visitor' section.
There are two main ways to get a Visa to study at South Leicestershire College.
To apply for a Tier 4 Student Visa, you need a CAS number from a Registered Sponsor, confirming that you have been offered a place on a course. We are a registered sponsor with Highly Trusted Status and can support your Tier 4 Student Visa application, if you meet the entry requirements for a valid course. A Tier 4 Student Visa is required if you wish to study:
- For more than one year
- A vocational course at NQF level 3 and above
- If you wish to work part-time
- If you wish to bring any dependants
We can also support your application for a Student Visitor Visa, which lets you study an English language course up to 11 months.
You will need to demonstrate in your application that you have sufficient money to pay for your course and any living expenses.
