Just because you are older than 18 and haven’t got 3 ‘A’ levels doesn’t mean you can’t go to university. Once you have achieved your level 3 course which is the equivalent of 2 ‘A’ level passes you are now eligible to move onto Higher Education.
You don’t have to move away from home or stop work as you can complete university courses at SLC; many of which are part-time or have flexible study means through either the University of Northampton, our higher education partner.
The college offers a range of Level 4 courses in Marketing, Purchasing and Supply and Accounting. These are work-related professional qualifications and can lead to full degree programmes.
We also run Foundation Degrees which are aimed at those in work with projects and assignments based around your job.
What is a foundation degree?
Foundation Degrees are degree level qualifications, designed with employers. They combine academic study with workplace learning to equip people with the relevant knowledge, understanding and skills to improve performance and productivity. They can lead onto full degrees.
From your Level 3 course you may also decide to become a teacher in the lifelong learning sector. The college runs initial teacher training courses which lead towards Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS).
In helping you make your choices, the College hosts an internal UCAS fair. At this event there are representatives from the universities in our region and they provide information on all their courses.
As part of our careers service, there is an organised trip to the main UCAS fair held at one of the UK’s universities. Ask your tutor for the dates as there you can get information on all courses available at the different universities.
