|Introduction||The Extended Diploma in Media is year TWO of a TWO year course. You will study 9 units in year 1 and 9 units in year 2. The 18 unit qualification is equivalent to 3 A levels.|
|Study Outline||The media course at SLC is a general media course which provides you with a wide variety of media knowledge and media skills in a range of media areas.|
You will study and develop skills in the following areas:
TV and film planning, creating, filming editing and producing visual effects.
Audio - planning, writing, directing shows and dramas: designing sound effects.
Photography understanding genres and producing a portfolio and digital editing.
Graphic Design- planning designing and creating graphic products ,web sites and social media pages.
Animation planning, designing and filming an animation.
Exhibition- design, planning and producing.
In addition you will take part in media activities around college such as filming and photographing college events, participate in competitions such as World Skills, and visit London, Manchester and Bradford as part of your course. You will develop employability skills, work in teams, meet deadlines, use your initiative and probl
|Entry Requirements||To progress onto Year 2 you will need to have achieved the OCR 90 Credit Diploma in Media in Year 1.|
If you have not achieved a GCSE 4 in Maths and English you will be expected to work towards functional skills qualifications or GCSEs in these subjects.
|Equipment||Stationery including a memory stick/hard drive to store your work.|
|Attendance||The college expected level of attendance is 90%.|
|Assessment||There are no exams on this course. You will be assessed via assignments. You will be graded at Pass, Merit or Distinction.|
|Progression||Many of the Level 3 students progress onto HNC at SLC or move onto university or enter the media industry. |
Previous students work in a range of industries from web design, social media marketing, broadcasting, radio photography, graphic design, marketing, retail management etc.
|Qualification||OCR Cambridge Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production Level 3 (equivalent to 3 A Levels).|
