|Introduction||The Level 2 OCR Cambridge Technical Diploma in Media covers a variety of skills required in today's media industry. You will have access to excellent facilities including our state of the art TV and Radio studios.|
|Study Outline||You will complete a variety of units that will give you the opportunity to, amongst other things |
- Create animations using clay or found objects
- organise and run a photoshoot for film posters (including props)
- edit images in Photoshop to create the film posters and other graphic products
- write and record a short script, record sound effects and edit together into a radio piece
- work in the TV studio as part of a team to produce a TV programme
You will be encouraged to take an active role in the college radio station (Wiggle FM), take on photography or filming opportunities around the college and with college partners, and prepare materials to display in media exhibitions.
If you do not have GCSE Grade 4 or above in English and Maths you will be required to study either functional skills or GCSE in these subjects.
|Entry Requirements||The normal entry requirements for this course are one of the following:|
Four GCSEs at Grade 3 or above
Equivalent nationally recognised qualifications
This course is particularly suited to students looking for a career within the Media industries
|Equipment||Stationery including a memory stick or hard drive.|
|Attendance||It is very important that you have excellent attendance and timkeeping during the course in order that you achieve the qualification. The minimum college expected attendance level is 90%.|
|Assessment||All units are assessed through assignment work either individually or in groups. There are no exams. All assessments will be graded as either Pass, Merit or Distinction.|
You will also complete a programme of Functional Skills or GCSEs in English and Maths. Maths and English skills are an essential requirement for employment progression, higher education and other further education courses.
|Progression||This course will prepare you for entry to a higher level creative course, or to enhance your skills to help you get a job.|
You can progress onto the Level 3 Cambridge Technical Diploma in Media or alternative Level 3 courses in college.
