|Introduction||The Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in (QCF) qualification consists of 11 mandatory units which are as follows:- |

With a choice of approximately two options units to obtain a minimum credit value of 44 credits to achieve this overall qualification.
|Study Outline||The Diploma combines knowledge and practice for those support staff roles that directly support teaching and learning in schools. They are designed to provide: - |
Education and training for those with a responsibility to support teaching and learning within education settings.
Opportunities for those supporting teaching and learning in schools to achieve a nationally recognised level 3 vocational qualification.
The knowledge, understanding and skills learners require to effectively support teaching in an education setting.
Opportunities for learner to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in working life.
|Entry Requirements||There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however English and Math's skills are desirable at level 2 as the learner will be providing support to pupils within the classroom. Also experience as a learning support assistance in a classroom working with the National Curriculum with the age group 5-19 year is beneficial to learning at this level. |

|Attendance||The learner would be required to attend college one day once a fortnight(day to be confirmed) at the main site in South Wigston (hours 9.30 am 12.30) to undertake aspects of the underpinning knowledge of the qualification where guidance and support for written assignments would be given by a tutor/assessor. |
|Assessment||All learners will have to access a work provision (this is the responsibility of the learner to find e.g. voluntary placement 16-20 hours in the workplace. Learners will be required to provide support within the classroom as a learner support assistant and working with the National Curriculum age range 5-19. As this qualification does require confirmation of occupational competency. The learner will be allocated an assessor where they will be observed in the work placement without this aspect the learner would not achieve the qualification as competency cannot be demonstrated. |
All learners are required to have undertaken a DBS and found a placement prior to being excepted on the course.
|Progression||At University: Once the above level 3 qualifications has been achieved then there are opportunities to go onto a Higher Level Teaching Assistant course (HLTA) or the Foundation Degree. |
At Work: Will achieve employer ability skills and experience of voluntary work within the school sector
