|Introduction||This introductory certificate in welding is open to anybody over the age of 16 years who have an interest in welding, and who would like to pursue a career in welding.|
|Study Outline||The course is based around the City & Guilds 3268 introductory welding skills qualification. The course will cover either: MIG/MAGS (Metal inert gas/Metal arc gas shielded) Welding MMA (Manual Metal Arc) Welding TIG/TAGS (Tungsten inert gas/Tungsten arc gas shielded) Welding Oxy-acetylene Welding|
|Entry Requirements||There are no formal entry requirements for this course.|
|Equipment||PPE (Overalls, steel toe capped boots).|
|Attendance||This is a 18 week course running one evening per week (2 1/2 hours each week), starting in September or March.|
|Assessment||There are five practical tasks, which are completed in the workshop and assessed by the course tutor, plus an oral exam. Five basic joints (Practical tasks): Straight runs Flat tee fillet H.V. Tee (horizontal vertical) Outside corner Lap joint|
|Progression||On completion you can either move onto another process at the same level, or progress to the Level 2 version involving more complex joints.|
