|Introduction||The City and Guilds level 1 and 2 Computer Maintenance course focuses primarily on computer hardware. |
Students are taught to develop their practical and academic knowledge in computing with a variety of tasks designed to be informative and enjoyable.
Students will learn about the main components that are used to build a computer and the every problems faced by all aspiring technicians.
The course covers both Level 1 and Level 2 in a single year so people with little or no knowledge of the subject have a realistic starting point for their future. The curriculum also covers the installation of various pieces of software and the use of diagnostic tools to further advance the relevance of the course when entering into employment.
|Study Outline||The program will cover the following:|
Basic Principles of Networking. This includes client server and peer to peer.
Installing, configuring and testing ICT Networks
Basic Principles of an ICT System and Data Security which instructs students on how to detect defend and clean viruses to may attack your system.
Basic Maintenance ICT equipment and systems allowing students to investigate and learn how to prolong the life of a computer system.
Introduction to Testing ICT systems.
Introduction to Customer service.
Basic Network design.
The curriculum also covers the installation of various pieces of software and the use of diagnostic tools.
|Entry Requirements||Entry requirements: 4 Grade C GCSE results (including Maths and English)|
Folder and plastic wallets.
|Attendance||A minimum of 85% attendance is required to complete the course.|
|Assessment||The level one ICT Systems Support qualification is comprised of 80 hours teaching across two units and two assignments completed under exam conditions. Level two consists of 270 hours across five units, five assignments completed under exam conditions and one online examination. Both of these qualifications are completed within a single academic year.|
|Progression||The progression from this course includes working in industry as a trainee technician or going on to a place at Level 3.|
