Introduction | This is a one year full-time programme for anyone interested in pursuing a career in the uniformed services such as the Police, Fire, Ambulance, Prison/Probation Services, Army, Navy and Air Force, or wishing to progress to higher education. It is equivalent to one A Level. |
Study Outline | Students will study five units: Government, Policies and the Public Services; Leadership and Teamwork; Citizenship and Diversity; Understanding Discipline in the Public Services; Fitness Testing and Training. Your study programme will be a combination of classroom-based learning, with practical sessions and residential trips. |
Entry Requirements | 4 GCSEs at grade C or above (including either English or Maths). Alternatively minimum Merit grade on the L2 Diploma in Public Services. |
Equipment | You will need indoor and outdoor sports kit/footwear |
Attendance | One year, full-time. |
Assessment | This programme is made up of a combination of practical and theoretical study with continuous assessment,written assignments and evidence gained from residential trips and the comprehensive programme of visiting speakers from the Public Services. |
Progression | The BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma is a nationally recognised qualification designed to give you a good understanding of the working practices of all the Public Services. You can either seek employment or progress onto a BTEC Level 3 Diploma (Subject to meeting relevant progression criteria). |
