|Introduction||A one year programme which introduces young people to potential careers in the Public Services including the Police, Fire, Ambulance, Prison and Probation Services and the Army, Navy and Air Force military services.|
The programme is equivalent to four GCSEs at grade C or above.
|Study Outline||Students will study 3 core units: Uniformed Public Services Employment; Public Service Skills; Uniformed Public Service Fitness.|
Students will also study three specialist units from a possible 12 others, examples of these optional units include; Driving and its Relationship to the Public Services; The Value of Sport and Recreation in the Public Services; Security Procedures. Your study programme will be a combination of classroom based learning, practical sessions, trips and a comprehensive programme of visiting speakers from the Public Service.
|Entry Requirements||4 GCSE grades at D or above or progression from Level 1 Public Services|
|Equipment||Indoor and Outdoor Sports kit/footwear.|
|Attendance||One year, full-time.|
|Assessment||The programme is assessed through a variety of methods and is designed to give you a working knowledge of the industry.|
|Progression||BTEC Diplomas are nationally recognised qualifications designed to give you a good understanding of the working practices of all the Public Services. You can either seek employment or progress onto a BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma(Subject to meeting relevant progression criteria).|
