IntroductionOCR Extended Diploma prepares learners for working in the care sector. It provides a good basis to go onto a more advanced work related qualification or progress to Higher Education
Study OutlineAll students will be enrolled onto the Extended Diploma in year two,. There are 10 optional units in the Diploma which are built upon to complete a total of 18 units in the Extended Diploma. You will attend a variety of settings arranged by the college to fulfil the 200 hours required placement hours for the Extended Diploma .
Entry RequirementsA successful completion of the 90 OCR technical Subsidiary Diploma & 5 Grade A*-C passes at GCSE level;(including Maths and English Language) All students are required to have an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS), this will be arranged by the college following interview.
EquipmentYou will require stationery equipment, uniform, which is to be worn whilst in placement, and text books.
Attendance2 years, full time to complete the full Diploma .Excellent attendance is required both in College and in the practical placement. Learners are required to attend all lectures.
AssessmentAll assessment is through assignment work.
ProgressionIf successful there are a variety of potential careers that you can explore as the qualification enables you to apply for employment in a supporting/supervisory capacity for example as care assistant in a range of settings,It is also possible for you to progress into careers that require further training as the qualifications hold a maximum of 420 UCAS points. This includes Higher Education further afield e.g. BSC Nursing or Social Work etc
