IntroductionThe main purpose of a retailer is to assist customers when they purchase products and services, which requires a good understanding of the stock being sold, the variety of ways customers can shop and the ability to process payments, for example, using a till. Retailers must be passionate about delivering a quality service that always aims to exceed customers expectations. Therefore, retailers enjoy direct contact with a wide range of people and are motivated by completing a sale and knowing a customer is happy with their purchase.
Study OutlineDuring your on-programme training you may complete the following qualification:

City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Retail Knowledge

In addition you will demonstrate how you meet the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours required to be a Retailer

Once you have completed a minimum of 12 months on programme you may progress to your End Point Assessment (EPA) which confirms your competence as a Retailer. The EPA consists of a multiple choice test, a practical observation and a professional discussion.
Entry Requirements4 GCSEs at Grade E or above which must include English and maths.
You must also be in contracted employment and work a minimum of 30 hours per week.
EquipmentYou will be supplied with access to an online e-portfolio system
AttendanceYou will receive work-based visits from an Assessor to support you in achieving the Certificate in Retail Knowledge and the knowledge, skills and behaviours requirement of the Retailer Apprenticeship Standard
AssessmentThe Certificate in Retail Knowledge is assessed via a computer based multiple choice exam.
ProgressionYou may wish to progress to the Level 3 Retail Team Leader Apprenticeship Standard
