|Introduction||This course will enable learners to gain an insight into basic carpentry techniques and skills.|
|Study Outline||the study program is designed for candidates who work or want to work as a carpenter or joiner in the construction sector. It allows candidates to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in carpentry or joinery.The course covers the following skills:|
Producing basic woodworking joints, and safely using various hand and power tools.
|Entry Requirements||Entry requirements are ideally GCSE at Grade D or above and through initial diagnostic assessment. Learners will also have to attend an interview with a member of the construction team.|
|Equipment||Learners will have to provide their own stationery equipment and recomended books.|
|Attendance||One year, three full days per week.|
|Assessment||Assessment is via completion of coursework and portfolio and awarding body set examinations.|
|Progression||Successful completion of the course will lead onto the Diploma Level 2 Carpentry. If working in industry and meeting set criteria, NVQ Level 2 carpentry.|
