IntroductionThe Entry-Level 3/Level 1 Diploma is a practical, work-related course. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations and activities. It introduces you to the types of provision in the Health, Social Care and Children's and Young People’s sectors. They include the roles played by workers from principles and values through to health and safety and working with others.
Study OutlineLearners study a combination of units to achieve a total of 37 credits. Unit topics include; an introduction to the vocational sectors of Child Studies and Health & Social Care, Human Growth and Development, Caring for Babies, Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Disabilities, Healthy Eating, Leisure Activities, Career progression and self-management skills. Learners will also study maths and English. There will be an opportunity to spend four weeks in work placements relevant to your chosen career
Entry RequirementsPotential candidates will be asked to attend a formal interview. At interview you will be required to bring two character references and achieve a minimum of Entry 2 in the English assessment. You will also need a Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS), this will be arranged by the college following interview.
EquipmentStationery equipment plus plastic wallets and a folder.
AttendanceOne year, full-time.
AssessmentYour work will be assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. This could include tasks set by CACHE such as designing charts or leaflets, coursework or methods such as oral questioning.
ProgressionSuccessful completion of the course would enable the learner to apply for a level 2 Child Studies course (subject to Maths and English grades) or Health & Social Care course.
