IntroductionAccording to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy almost one third of people in the UK have had therapy. Many people benefit from counselling and this qualification would be useful for anyone who would like to develop their use of counselling in either a work or personal capacity. This qualification would be useful for anyone who would like to develop their use of counseling in either a work or personal capacity.
Study OutlineYou will explore core Counselling Skills and how they are practised. In addition, there is an introduction to counselling skills theories - psychodynamic, person-centred and cognitive behavioural therapy, which explore the key differences between these theories and gives an understanding of the significance of counselling theory.
Learners will gain an understanding of anti-discriminatory practice, discover the key aspects of an ethical framework and discover varied ways to address diversity in counselling skills practice.
There is also an opportunity to explore your own Personal development, developing and reflecting on your own values and exploring development in the future and potential sources of support.
Entry RequirementsThe qualification is available for learners who are 19+ at the start of the Academic year. There are no specific
learning requirements but learners will need to demonstrate that they can fulfil the requirements of the awarding
body assessment criteria and comply with the relevant literacy and numeracy aspects of the qualification
EquipmentEach learner receives a set of high quality learning materials comprising assessment booklets and knowledge and understanding books which are a valuable resource to keep for reference purposes.
AttendanceThe qualification is delivered over a period of 12 weeks.
AssessmentLearners receive the support of a dedicated assessor and complete Unit Assessments to demonstrate that they have met the qualification learning aims and assessment criteria.
