|Introduction||This course is ideal if you need to improve your English skills and/or need a qualification. |

|Study Outline||This course will look at the three main areas of English:|
- Speaking and listening
|Entry Requirements||You will need to take an initial assessment(IA) in English and maths, to ensure you are enrolled on the right level for you to succeed and identify any support you might need. This usually takes around 30 minutes. |
You will also need to complete a short interview with our team. We will ask you about any recent learning experience and qualifications you have already.

|Attendance||You are expected to attend every lesson to be successful|
|Assessment||You will need to complete three components. Reading, writing and speaking & listening.|
Exams are 50 or 55 minutes long.
|Progression||Functional Skills English is available from entry level, level 1 and level 2. You can progress through the levels. |
You can progress to GCSE with a level 2, subject to an initial assessment meeting a level 2 standard.
