IntroductionImproving English and Maths courses are currently available free to all adults.
Study OutlineLearners can work at their own level from Entry level 1-3 to Level 1-2 in Functional Skills. These courses are intended to link every day English and maths skills with access to employment. The government aim is for all learners/employment seekers to attain a Level 2 in English and maths. The Level 2 achievement meets this aim and gives access to higher education including university (UCAS points).
Entry RequirementsEntry requirements are an initial assessment. Ring the college and ask for an assessment.
EquipmentPen, paper and calculator/dictionary.
AttendancePart time. 1 session a week for 3 hours at the Nuneaton Campus. Exams can be taken at any time to suit the learner’s progress.
AssessmentContinual assessment with a final invigilated exam. (1½ hrs)
ProgressionLearners progress to Level 2. After passing at level 2 the course is completed. (Learners could then take GCSE)
