IntroductionThis is a QAA approved qualification at Level 3 to provide Access to Higher Education for those learners seeking a career in a Health or Allied Health Profession. The course is part-time over 2 years, enabling 19+ learners to be able to study at NWHC and then progress to university to study on a 3 year degree course. Whether you are looking to progress your career or change direction, this course can provide you with the platform you need.

Access to Higher Education courses can be funded through a 19+ Advanced Learning Loan. If you take out an Advanced Learning Loan to study an Access to Higher Education course, the loan will be written off once you complete a subsequent Higher Education course.
Study OutlineYou will study a range of Health based modules that have been chosen to facilitate progression to a relevant university course and include: Biological Science; Health Studies; Study Skills; Academic Writing and Maths in a Health Care Context.
Entry RequirementsThere may be the requirement for additional studies for those students who need to gain GCSE English or Maths qualifications at grade C or above. Science is an additional requirement for Nursing and Midwifery.
Please note - Students are advised to check the university entry requirements, including GCSE requirements and Access diploma, for the course that they are interested in.
EquipmentNone specific required.
AttendanceTwo evenings per week,5.30pm -9.30pm over two years.
AssessmentAssessment is a mix of coursework and examinations.
ProgressionStudents who achieve the Diploma can be accepted for university degrees through NWHC or a university, in professions such as: Nursing; Midwifery; Paramedic; Speech and Language therapy; Physiotherapy; Occupational Therapy; or subject based degrees such as Biological Sciences, Health Studies/Education.
QualificationAccess to HE Diploma (Health).
Awarding BodyThe Diploma is QAA recognised and is awarded by AIM Awards.
