Concerned about the cost of studying? There is plenty of support available to make sure you can study worry free.
Want to study a full-time course?
If you are aged 16-18 on a full-time course there are no course or examination fees. There will be a College Service charge for all full-time courses and for some courses, material fees will apply.
Partial or full fee remissions may be available for students aged 19+ if you are claiming benefits.
The Discretionary Bursary Funds help students of all ages with the costs of learning, including help with fees, childcare, materials and travel. To find out if you are eligible, talk to our Customer Service Team.
Bursary application forms can be collected from the Customer Service Team (just ask at Reception) or can be posted or emailed if you give us a call on 0116 264 3533.
Looking to study a Higher Education course? You may be eligible for student loans and grants from Student Finance England.
Aged 19 or over?
From May 2016, if you are aged 19 or over and are looking to study a Level 3 or above course, you may be able to access an Advanced Learner Loan.
Getting a Loan doesn’t depend on your household income and there’s no credit check. You won’t have to pay anything back until you’re earning over £21,000 a year.
Further information and independent advice is available from The Money Advice Service www.moneyadviceservice.org.uk
When applying for the Advanced Learning Loan online you will be asked the following information:
- Name of college or training organisation
- UK Provider Reference number
- Course trainer code (if applicable)
A letter will be sent from us to each individual containing the correct information for you and your programme to compete the application form correctly. You will also be given a reference number from the College. This number is unique to each applicant and can be quoted if you have any queries (it isn't transferable to other applicants).
Paying your fees
- Fees Under £300 - need to be paid in full at enrolment.
- Fees Over £300 - can be paid in 3 consecutive monthly instalments if the course is over 12 weeks in duration, with the first instalment paid on enrolment. The remaining 2 instalments to be paid by direct debit.
