Human Resources Apprentice
South Leicestershire College (SLC)
"Before my Apprenticeship, I went to sixth form and gained 3 A Levels and went onto study History at the University of Northampton; however, I did not feel comfortable or happy in Northampton. So I left and I searched for a job for a while until I arrived at apprenticeships.org and applied for the role at SLC.
I had never thought about doing an Apprenticeship before but the idea of ‘learning whilst you earn’ appealed to me so I applied and now here I am.
I would recommend Apprenticeships to others as you do gain new skills whilst learning; I believe the main benefit has been boosting my confidence.
I think what might put some people off Apprenticeships is the low wage but the way I think about it is after the Apprenticeship you have a qualification that can boost you wage.
It’s earning a bit less now but to gain more in the future."
