Business Administration Apprentice
South Leicestershire College (SLC)
"Building sites, hard hats and Hi-Vis vests were my life at the age of 17 and what I thought to be my life forever. Being a school leaver, aged 16, I always believed I would follow the family trade on site with the rubble and muck.
4am get ups and 6pm finishes took a wear on my body, social life and normality, so I decided to leave the job when I completed my Level 2 Carpentry Diploma at SLC. Going into a Business Apprenticeship was not an overnight decision and I primarily thought hard about what will always be needed in today’s world and for me that led to business.
I enjoy all aspects of my Apprenticeship, being given a responsibility and a proper job role as well as working towards an NVQ makes everything seem worthwhile. I hope to continue my journey in the business sector, gaining more skills to become stronger in the line of work I enjoy.
I never thought I’d see myself in the this field of work and it is quite a whole new environment for me but I love being part of a busy workforce 'earning as I learn' and wouldn’t change it for the world."
