South Leicestershire College (SLC)
"I left Lutterworth College at 16 then went to Leicester College to study IT, where I did a BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in IT.
I chose to do an Apprenticeship so I could get a taste of working life and to earn a wage. It also allows me to learn on the job and gain a qualification.
The Apprenticeship has given me the opportunity to gain experience in a working environment, learn new skills and meet new people. Since joining SLC, I’ve improved my knowledge in IT and have taken courses that the college run such as A+ and N+.
The whole NVQ side of my Apprenticeship has been very simple. When I’ve needed answers, my Assessor has always been easy to contact and very supportive and motivating.
After I complete my Apprenticeship my plan it is to continue with IT whether it be studying or getting a job as a fully qualified technician and maybe stay here at the college.
I would recommend Apprenticeships because its experience in a working environment, and a great way to learn and gain new skills.”
