Business Administration Apprentice
South Leicestershire College (SLC)
"I left school wanting to go to work and study an NVQ in Child Care. I found a job in child care at the age of 16 and worked for various companies.
When I was 19 everyone was going to university and studying degrees but I knew this was not for me, so I decided to go to Spain to be a Children’s Rep working a 72 hour week.
I’d come home to the UK for a 6 month break before returning to Spain but in the meantime saw the advert on the website. I wanted to develop my skills further and thought I would give SLC life a chance.
If someone was interested in an Apprenticeship I would definitely encourage them to go for it no matter what their age.
As part of my job, I’m currently part of the Equality & Diversity team as I think it’s important to make people aware that everyone is unique, which sometimes means adapting situations for others.
I have gained a broad range of experience in an office environment which is really useful to have in terms of different jobs for the future."
